Interview: The interview is at 31/07/06 at 9:30AM with Ian Cochraine @ James Watt college Computing Campus. I need to contact SAAS and SQA regarding lost qualification certificates and name change. My current qualifications are the following: Standard Grade Mathematics (GEN 3) Computing (CRED 2) French (GEN 4) Craft + Design (GEN 4) English (GEN 3) Geography (GEN 4) Physics (GEN 3) Chemistry (GEN 3) Higher Qualifications NC computing (higher) at Ayr College (B) HNC Computer Networking at Ayr College (PSU/HTML/MUOS Only) Did not manage to complete HNC course due to health difficulties. Relevant Experience: I currently have 8 standard grades, one higher (computing), a few computing-based INT2's and some parts of the old HNC. I' am not sure if James Watt is teaching the new HNC/D or not. The old HNC had similar parts, mainly HTML and PSU, both of which i have completed. I' am not sure if the module number is the same on these modules that are being taught at James Watt. I also already have Multi User Operating Systems, which is covered in your HND (although again I'am not sure if the module numbers match up). experience: running a small public access linux system which provides system administration capabilities to the general public (http://www.darktech.org.uk) on virtualization software which i have setup and maintained myself. I hope to let colleges and other public institutions use this feature in the future. This involves activities such as: Setting up mysql, php, apache etc from source. Chrooting above services for extra security. Optimizing services to provide faster response speeds. Setup of suexec which allows users to run processes under their own uid/gid instead of that of the webserver. Setup of virtualization software and building of a telnet based administration system for the backend to interface the web server (http://www.openvz.org). Setup of small containers to allow users to have root on their own separate virtual system to learn linux. Setup of a reverse-proxy (squid) to deal with multiple web servers on one ip address. Setup of a patched "SSH gate" to allow users access to their virtual containers which are on a virtual network within the server operating system itself on NAT with full logging of all commands to file. Setup of vlans. Compiling and patching various aspects of the kernel source. I currently do some Linux administration work for Mabus Hosting in my spare time. (http://www.mabushosting.net) and HTML and web based development at the Caley Youth Centre in Stevenson as a volunteer. I also have: In-depth experience of Linux and Unix operating systems (Debian, Redhat, Fedora, Slackware, Freebsd and Openbsd). In-depth experience of Microsoft server setups, such as microsoft windows server 2003 and windows server 2000 which involves setup of active directory, IIS based web services, patching and general maintenance of the system and setup of strong security policies such as DEP. I also have a very good working knowledge of optimization of windows based server systems. In-depth experience of setting up complicated local area networks with separate subnets and routing done on linux, along with QOS/Layer7 packet shaping technologies in linux and setup of wireless technologies and wireless securities such as WPA2 with RADIUS authentication and AES encryption standards. In-depth experience/setup of firewall technologies such as SPI, Anti-DOS techniques, DMZ setups, egress filtering and Windows Firewall/iptables/ipfw/ipfilter and pf.
