------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jenny was a friend of mine -- The Killers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed By : Brian Recchia / http://brian.recchia.name (yes it's a real website) e-mail: brian@recchia.name (yes, it's a real email address.) AIM: RobotTownHooker I'm a professional bassist and am 100% positive that this is about as right as it's going to get. I plan on uploading a video to Youtube soon of me playing it (this way, of course) and when I do, I'll update the tab to link to it. Tuning: Half-step down (Eb Ab Db Gb / D# G# C# F#) This song is played with a moderately heavy pick. You can play it with fingers, but the rhythm sounds much better if you use a pick. Plus, Mark Stoermer of The Killers plays it with one. Each note, rest, dead-note, etc is a sixteenth note, except perhaps for a few typos or exceptions. It should be noted, however, that "12" for instance (or any other double-digit number) counts as one note even though it's two characters and for a hammer on, don't count characters there either; 4h5 is two 16th notes. Speaking of hammer-ons, the hammer-ons I'm POSITIVE are played, but I've never seen anyone else play them, and they are done somewhat fast in the song for a beginner (as I said, sixteenth notes) so if you can't hammer-on that fast, just don't play them. Most people won't notice. :] A dash left in between two notes = a sixteenth note rest. The "x" in the first measure is because the Gb/11 (or technically speaking, due to the tuning it is an F) is played staccato (that means the note rings for a veryyyyy short time) and then a dead note is played. Again, this is optional, it's just if you want to sound exactly like the MP3. (For all I know, it could even be a studio error; it doesn't sound like that when they play it live.) When it really matters, I've put arrows above notes so that you can see the direction you should be picking. (Remember, as I said you should use a pick.) Good luck! With practice, it's not a very hard song at all. I'm surprised I haven't seen any perfect tabs yet. 12s, not 1s and 2s. ~ means let it ring as an 8th note instead of a 16th. Lastly, I play the "" Intro/verse/chorus (play the 12-11x12 only during the intro) Chorus begins at *. v v^v v v^ v^ v v v v v^ v^ v v (4 is an 8th note that you pull off to 0) G|---------12-11x12\----------9-10-11\------------5-4~p0---------------------| D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| A|--------------------7~77~77-----------5~55~55------------------------------| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| v v^ v^ v v v^v v v v v v v v v v v v v^ v^ v v G|------------------------------------------9-10-11\------------5-4~p0-------| D|-------------------------4h5~4~~-------------------------------------------| A|-3~33~32~3\--0-023~~3~~5~-------5~7\----------------5-55-55----------------| E|--------------------------------------0------------------------------------| v v^ v^ v v v^v v v v v v v v v v v v v^ v^ v v G|------------------------------------------------------------5-4~p0---------| D|-------------------------4h5~4~~-------------------------------------------| A|-3~33~32~3\--0-023~~3~~5~-------5~7\--------------5-55-55------------------| E|--------------------------------------0---0-2-3~---------------------------| v v^ v^ v v v^v v v v v v v v v v v v v^ v^ v v G|------------------------------------------9-10-11\------------5-4~p0-------| D|-------------------------4h5~4~~-------------------------------------------| A|-3~33~32~3\--0-023~~3~~5~-------5~7\----------------5-55-55----------------| E|--------------------------------------0------------------------------------| v v^ v^ v v v^v ^v ^v v v v*v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v vvv v^v v^v G|--------------------------------|------------------------------------------| D|--------------------------------|--------------------------------2-222-222-| A|-3~33~32~3\--0-023-x3-x3~5~~5~~5~3-333-333-333-335-555-555-555-55----------| E|--------------------------------|------------------------------------------| v^v v^^ v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v v^v vvv v v v v G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| D|222-22------------------------------------------------5~~~4~~~2~~~0~~~-----| A|------2-222-222-222-223-333-333-333-335-555-555-555-55----------------3~~--| E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------| v^ v^ v v G|-------------| Repeat the intro/verse/chorus as needed, but remember, the D|--------/7~7\| 12-11x12\ is only done in the beginning of the song. Excuse the odd notation; I wrote it out the way I have it in my mind and I taught myself how to play, so it's probably different. Also keep in mind that this is my first tab.
