1. Extract the file from the archives 2. Open the program called ImgBurn 3. Select "Write image file to disc" 4. In the source box specify the file you extracted in step 1 5. In Settings choose the MAX write speed 6. After inserting a blank CD press the big button on the lower left side of the window to burn the image onto the disc. -Now you have a Windows XP installation CD from which we will reformat the drive. -We have to backup some data so that you can restore it once your drive is reformated. 1. Open My Computer 2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Zuzia 3. Copy the Gadu-Gadu folder and paste it anywhere on drive D (remeber where though) 4. Now open Firefox so we can backup your favorites :) 5. Go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks... 6. Go to Import and Backup and press Export HTML 7. Save the file somewhere on drive D 8. That should take care of your gg and firefox, if you have any files on the desktop that you need copy them to drive D (not the programs tho :D ) You may want to print this out, write it down, or open it on another computer or device like your PDA because you will turn your laptop off and you'll kinda need this the most :) 1. Make sure the Windows XP installation CD is in the CD Drive 2. When you restart the computer, a message appears briefly on the bottom of the screen (right when you turn the pc on) saying that you should press ESC or F8 or some other button to enter bios. Press that button ASAP (you may need to restart the pc once or twice to get it in time). 3. Go to a place called Boot Options and choose as your Primary Boot Device the DVD/CD Drive. The rest of the boot options don't really matter. 4. Press ESC and than press exit and save to exit the bios (the pc will restart). 5. Now do nothing untill you get into a blue screen saying something about isntalling Windows. Select that you want to install windows (not repair or anything of the sort), agree to the agreement, choose Drive C: as the installation directory, and choose quick NTFS format. 6. Windows XP should now format your drive, install windows, and than its fairly easy so I won't explain it all here... ;) 7. I have included some extra files which you should install as they will basically be necessary for you to survive in the technological geniousness of this world :P Good luck and I hope this works for ya sis, //Marceli
