what do you mean by all over net? and we can keep this on pm as it is off-topic yes of course thx ofr your help ya so what is the nature of your project i mean any people can connect on the server for help packagers i explain you : 1 server on the net packagers can connect over ssh on this server and running their building process and all packagers (and why not more users) can connect their pc on the server with a client and i would this client use the free resource avaible on the client for split compilation process understand ? i'm sorry if my english is bad, i'm french :| the problem is the compiling process.. why ? mpi is definately out of question as it requires a local cluster. ok so between mosix and boinc well for compiling you need a similar enviorment. on all the comps and pbuilder does it via chrooting read mosix carefully it's also for a local clusters so client need install a pbuilder :/ pbuilder is a package which creates a chroot for building packages which are optionally targetted at releases other than the currently installed release. yes so that's your main problem. the frameworks like boinc are used for computation where there is just a binary which needs to be run on the client. 'cause if a client create a chroot, data can't be uploaded on the server at the end of process like folding@home yes i know it yep.. and do you have any idea about how can i do let me think .. of course :D well only think which i can think of is to split the process into 2 parts. compiling and and installing what do you mean by installing ? compiling can be done on distributed env. yes like distcc yep :) i've thought about it but chrooting is difficult to paralize .. yes and is not that important coz it wont take much resorces. yep so your idea is creating chroot on server , and only distribute compilation with software like distcc ? yep. that's what i can think of now :) it seems to be a good idea and how can i use distcc and not gcc/g++ ? just modify configure script in rules ? (or something like that) yes there is something like disthosts variable in which you can set the hostnames. ok but still i think it will also work better if you have a local cluster. yes but it's not the real purpose but still it can be modified to work on different machines i guess. because i want all (debian/ubuntu/linux) users can connect on server for "help" community k anyways distcc uses gcc at backend so it wont be a much problem. yes your idea seems good well i cant say much at this moment. but you can find me on debian most of the time.. k i really thanks you for your help np :) i 'll come back on #debian when the project will be started sure.. you've been a BIGGGGG help for me :D no problem at all.. :) thx again :D good bye bye i have to sleep :| same here :) :D good night so after a smoke of course
