Dear All:

The purpose of the 3 person committee, at last year's retreat, was to vote amongst ourselves as to the best use of collected funds, so long as it met the criterion of meeting needs for children and/or women in Israel.  In the previous year, UJC essentially took the money without the blessing of our class since getting the class to come up with a consensus was a difficult, if not impossible undertaking, hence the subsequent creation of the committee.

When the request was made in December that Snaps funds be used for games and other activities for the winter clubhouse at the absorption center, I forwarded the request to both Susan and Leslie.  Susan agreed it was a good idea, and we never heard from Leslie who clearly had a trying year.  Susan and I then spoke on the phone at which time we agreed to approve the request.

As I said on the call the other day, it wasn't until now that I realized I must not have communicated this mitzvah to the class and for that, I'm terribly sorry.
