Dear All: As I said on the call the other day, it wasn't until now that I realized I did not communicate to you our class's mitzvah, executed by the committee, and for that I'm very sorry. The purpose of the 3 person committee, formed at last year's retreat, was to vote amongst ourselves as to the best use of collected Snaps funds, so long as it met the criterion determined by our whole class: meeting needs for children and/or women in Israel. In the previous year, our inability to come up with a consensus as a whole class resulted in UJC eventually taking the money and us losing the opportunity to direct its use. Hence the subsequent creation of the nimble committee. In December, when JAFI requested that Snaps funds be used for games and other activities for the winter clubhouse at the absorption center, I forwarded the request to both Susan and Leslie. Susan agreed it was a good idea; Leslie, who clearly had a trying year, was unable to participate. Susan and I agreed it was a worthy request, so it was approved.
