To: Gardiner Woods From: Jennifer Backus/supervisor Date: December 9, 1997 Subject: The New Memorandum Format Correspondence with our organization is now using this new form. As you can see, the heading information is set up in a fairly standard way. Courtesy titles, salutations, complimentary closing and signatures written in ink are not required. The following steps should also be considered when setting up your memoranda: 1. The lengths of an interoffice message us usually determines the width of the writing line. A 1 inch margin is preferred. Short messages of less than 50 words can be double spaces to balance its appearance. Longer memos should be single spaces and a line left to separate the paragraphs Numbered listings should be typed as separate paragraphs and carry over lines are incanted to continue under the first wood of the first line of the numbered item. This helps the numbers stand out. 3. Type reference initials a double space below the last line of the message. Notations such as attachments, photocopies, enclosures, and other are typed the same as in a regular business letter. If you supply of these new forms are depleted at any time, you may revert to the old method of temporarily. If you have any questions, contact me.
