ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT REPORT ============================= 9 October 2006 Engineering Director Larry Garfield Assistant Engineering Director Eddie Cramer ------------------------------------------------- Open Contracts -------------- Medium Surveyor Medium Cruiser Starbases Specs under consideration -------------------------- Concord, Surveyor, Brandon Irvine Victoria, Cruiser, Lee Bridgeford Frontier, Surveyor, Jen Herr and Andy Robinson Ships that have upgraded to a valid spec ---------------------------------------- USS Kansas (USS Entente) I must say I am quite pleased with the EDept this month, particularly toward the end of the month. Both the Concord and Victoria completed their initial reviews, and the Victoria is back for more. It's also been joined by the Fronteir-class, which is also vying for the Surveyor slot. I am most impressed, however, by the back and forth reviews that the designers have been giving each other, especially Lee Bridgeford and Jen Herr. Both have been very supportive of each other's designs and have been giving and taking critique wonderfully. I am hopeful of that environment continuing. :-) In other news, the long-promised email to COs has gone out regarding finally completing the transition begun 5 years ago to an all-standards-compliant fleet. Most of the club has long since switched over to valid specs, but there are still a few ships left that we need to deal with. I've already gotten some responses, and at least one CO has already decided on a new class. Two down. :-) I also know of people working on specs for our various spec-less starbases. It will be tight, with five slots to cover yet this term, but I am still confident that we will get at least most of the club situated by the end of the term. If you want to help, stop by the EDept and review specs! -- Admiral Larry Garfield, Engineering Director
