HOME FOR CHRISTMAS - Maria Mena

Tabbed by Are Romøren

("G#/D#"-notations indicate bassnotes, so G#/D# is G# with a D# bass note)

(Capo 3rd fret and transpose down 3 half steps to C major for easier guitar tab)

Intro:

D# - G#sus2/D# - Bbsus4/D# - G#sus2/D# x2

Verse 1:

D# G#sus2/D#
Careful what you say
             Bbsus4/D#
This time of year
               G#sus2/D#
Tends to weaken me
     D# G#sus2/D#
And have a little decency
     Bbsus4/D# G#sus2/D#
And let me cry in peace
    D# G#sus2/D#
But there's a place where I
          Bbsus4/D# G#sus2/D#
Erase the challenges I've been through
      D# G#sus2/D#
Where I know every corner,
         Bbsus4/D#
Every street-name
        G#sus2/D#
all by heart
    G#maj7 D#sus2/G
And so it is a part of my
    Fm7 Bbsus4-Bb
courageous plan to leave
G#maj7 D#/G
With a broken heart
G#maj7/F Bbsus4
Tucked away under my sleeve
           D# G#sus2
I wanna go home for Christmas
          Bb G7/B Cm
Let me go home this year
           D# G#sus2
I wanna go home for Christmas
          Bbsus4 (D#)
Let me go home this year

(Repeat intro sequence)

Verse 2 (same as 1, but differs slightly on second to last line):

I'll pack my bags
and leave before the sun rises tomorrow
'cause we act more like strangers for each day
That I am here
But I have people close to me
Who never will desert me
D# Bb/D-Cm
Who remind me frequently
       Bbsus4 G#sus2
What I was like as a child

And so it is a part of my
courageous plan to leave
With a broken heart
Tucked away under my sleeve

I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year

I don't know what my future holds
or who I'll choose to love me
But I can tell you where I'm from
And who loved me to life

And so it is a part of my
courageous plan to leave
With a broken heart
Tucked away under my sleeve

I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year
I wanna go home for Christmas
Let me go home this year

(Repeat intro sequence)
