After some weeks of contemplating (and a quick question round on IRC tonight) we have some serious suggestions:

* put staging under packagemanagement (install foo.ipk and foo-dev.ipk to staging/)
 This will also help people who build stuff using a OE generated distro and increase the quality of the SDK targets.
* Improve OE and bitbake QA. This involves reviving the tinderboxes, adding unittest for OE/bb and tests for generated software.
* better uclibc integration. In the ideal situation every package in OE can be built against uclibc.
* offer multiple init systems (init, init-ng, etc) and test which one performs best
