Vector Linux is a Slackware-based distribution whose goal is to provide
a complete desktop experience by including browser plugins, media codecs,
support for DVD playback, Java, and other facilities. Vector Linux 5.8-rc3,
code name "Barbarella", was released today; this release is based on
Slackware-11.0 and uses our own unique installer. The desktop is XFCE-4.3.99.2
and the kernel is 2.6.17. Barbarella comes with the following plugins:
Macromedia Flash 9 beta, Sun Java 1.5 Update 9, support for MP3, Windows WMV
format, and various other codecs. Encrypted DVD support is installed by
default, and most DVD media are playable. This is our final release candidate,
