Ubuntu ::.. Ubuntu is a "distribution" -suppousedly- based on another distro called Debian. This can be checked easily: sudo apt-get install linuxlogo && linux_logo Then, the Debian logo will appear. If Ubuntu is based on Debian and Ubuntu users think they're using Debian (Ubuntu users enter Debian channels and forums to ask their doubts), Why is Ubuntu so incompatible with Debian? We don't want to compare Debian and Ubuntu. Our philosophy is beyond that. Our intention is to show Ubuntu users that there are other ways, to teach them that the Linux definition they have (Linux equals Ubuntu) is not right. The fact that Canonical Ltd. has resources to freely distribute CDs to the whole world, arriving to the houses of people with have no idea about GNU and Linux, or who request them just for doing so doesn't mean it's the best. Giving free Ubuntu CDs "grew" a lot, but the growth sometimes is bad for the community. The Users ::.. Sometimes they seem to be Trolls in forums asking things which they don't even know what they mean. The number of "Ubuntusers" is growing even more, being new users or users who have used some other distro before. Our ideal is neither to disqualify, insult nor to despise Ubuntu users. We just want to help them to choose what they really want. There are lots of known situations where users don't know anything about what they are doing, trying to install EXE executables (Windows binaries), or essential things like the use of the command "cd" to change the current directory, users self-appointed "newbies" who invade forums looking for somebody who can tell them how to, i.e., configure a server using Ubuntu (perhaps because it was the only thing the could install) and looking at this we ask ourselves "Is the Ubuntu user able to form a community?" NUCF ::.. The NoUbuntu Conscience foundation tries to change this though at all.
