KDE Audio (Multimedia?) Control -------------------------------- One interface for every application who wants to access audio players. Plugin based system, like mediacontrol for kicker currently is. This API would make it easier for KDE applications to implement controlling options. Some calls like volumeUp(), volumeDown(), mute() and setVolume(int) could be provided by kmix if not implemented in plugin. All methods returning bool will return true on success, false otherwise. Perhaps API could include some kind of returnFeatures() and queryFeature() for checking if implementation of something exists? Possible API -------------------------------- bool volumeUp() - Set volume up with some prefixed (plugin can choose, if not, fallback to some default) value. bool volumeDown() - Like volumeUp() bit raises volume. bool volumeSet(int) - Sets volume to specified level. bool setPosition(int) - Sets position on the track in seconds. int returnVolume() - Returns current volume level. QString returnNowPlaying() - Returns formated(?) now playing string. int returnTotalTime() - Returns total time of the track in seconds. int returnPosition() - Returns how much of the track has been played in seconds. bool returnStatus() - Tells if application is playing or not.
