Final Project Network Design (Refer to the marking sheet for additional marks for formatting, appearance, etc.) Consider a company office layout as shown on page 2. Suppose that, as a network integrator, you are asked to design and implement a new network (with at least a 25-node capacity) for this company. You are given that 15 standalone or peer-to-peer connected computers already exist and have the following specifications: 10 of those systems are PCI bus Pentium-233 (non¬upgradabie), 16MB RAM, 1GB hard drive, ATI XGA graphics cards and 15" monitors; the remaining 5 systems are Celeron 800, 32MB RAM, 10GB hard drive, 4MB AGP graphics cards and 17" monitors. In addition, two HP41 DON network printers have already been ordered. The customer wishes to upgrade the systems from Windows 95/98 (which has been used to connect some of the computers in a peer-to-peer network) to Windows 2000 (mainly for stability and security purposes) and would like to purchase a new machine to be used as a file and database server. The company has already purchased licenses for Microsoft Office and other productivity software, which they currently use. /- 01: What kind of operating system would you install on the server and why? For the operating system of your choice, discuss the recommended hardware specifications for the server (CPU, memory, disk, network card [speed, type], etc.), as well as the associated costs of the-server and client operating systems (Hint: licensing). Are the client system specifications adequate for the customer's needs? If not, what upgrades would you recommend and how would you carry out the implementation? Discuss related costs. (5 marks)
