Gifts of Earth by: Kayla Ballard 09/10/06 In the eve, the setting sun whispers good night, to everyone A blanket of stars, a lullaby of nature Singing sweet tunes, of harmony and rapture Dim light, shadows the ground As midnights creatures come out to play. Owls sing, crickets chirp, Nature's circus, gifts of earth. In the morn, the rising sun, Following the moon, day it becomes The sweet dew, the melodies, Birds singing, “Come on! Come on, wake up, for it is dawn. Time to play, time to have fun!” Pattering feet, down the hall Giggling and fun, proving the day has begun Now everyone’s awake. Lets get on the run. Time to head to the kitchen, Something smells great! Orange juice, waffles, a couple of pancakes, Cereal, milk and an apple here and there A way to start off the morning, a breakfast to share. Time to head to the park and hear the sounds, Children’s laughter all around Taking time to enjoy what we've found. Noon is near, time to head to work No one stands still, what a silly place, Everyone is always moving at a fast pace. We sit there for hours, what a boring day, Meetings, conferences, one lunch break Seems like time never ends, when we’re trying to tie loose ends. Time to go home, traffic is rough Horns screaming, cars roaring, Man this is tough! But now we are home, what a relaxing place to be Children buzzing, “come see come see!” They made you a picture, how sweet. “It’s a Tree! Our family tree.” “There is you, daddy, sister, brother and me.” Life’s sweet pleasures, it’s what we need. Now the eve has come, as the suns sets Reflections of the day, dance on our mind As we listen to the world stop in time Nature sings her lullaby, sweet tunes of harmony and rapture Reminding us, these are the days we capture and hold. Forever with us, young and old..
