20:16 < Subdino> Hi. I'm reading the relocation list of an ELF and I see the following thing : 2 distinct relocations for the exact same offset. Those 2 relocations are overlapping (ie, there are bits which are modified by both - and one is a subset of the other). Can anyone help me to understand what it means (bug ?) ? 20:16 < Subdino> The relocation value does not exist in the ABI. 20:17 < Subdino> And even stranger, the ASM opcode which gets relocated does a "load value from register A and put in register B" which doesn't look relocatable at all to me. 20:19 < Subdino> (the same opcode exists in a relocatable format which deals with ram instead of registers, but the relocation-concerned bits are not matching the bits changed by those 2 relocations...) 20:21 < Subdino> arch is sparc64, runing linux, binary is elf64-sparc, objdump 2.17, built using gcc 4.1.2 20:23 < ams> Subdino: When you speak of the operating system that is basically the GNU system with Linux added, would you please call it "GNU/Linux"? If you call it just "Linux", you're giving the principal developers none of the credit. See http://www.gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html for more explanation about this. 20:24 * Subdino sets pedantic mode on 20:24 < Subdino> s:linux:GNU/Linux: 20:24 < ams> It isn't about being pedantic. 20:25 < ams> It is about not calling a "orange" for a "monkey". 20:25 < Subdino> about troll maybe ? sorry for pulling the trigger... bad habits, you know 20:25 < Subdino> anyway, it has nothing to do with my orgiginal question 20:25 < ams> Well then, if that is how you want it, I won't help you. 20:26 < Subdino> no problem. 20:27 < Subdino> neither me nor the project I hack for, I would add :)
