drochaid kind of reminded me that we need two sockets per person on the pod's, one for monitor and one for computer - this was overlooked. this means given 12 people in a pod, we need 24 sockets. the only safe way to do this over 3 mains sockets, is quite simply 8gang adaptors. there doesnt appear to be such a thing as an 8gang adaptor at 10metres, so were going to need to get those 10m one gang extention leads (x6 for the furthest away from the wall socket and the 2m lead will be fine for those closer) and 9x 8adaptors = 72 plugs, of which is required for up to 36 people (which gives us some spare for switches etc). these adaptors are required to have surge protection at a minimum, simply because if someones machine blows up, its going to cost us a lot more in the long run as we are liable. so to recap: 3 8gang adaptors per pod = 24 sockets. (2 per person - 12 people) 3 pods, so thats 9 adaptors. 9 adaptors at 10quid each = 90pounds. 6x 10m extention leads - because the 8 plug adaptors are only suitable for up to 2m = 20quid or more. your looking at 110quid, at the very least to power the pods. the cheapest i can find these 8gangs with surge protection, is 10pounds each. see here: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=96834&doy=25m2 so a 40quid budget is a bit short im afraid, realistically speaking were looking at around 100-120pounds, and thats excluding the homeplug devices needed for the WAN and is doing it on the cheap. (those 8gang adaptors are 30+quid for a decent one).
