Scrubrunt1 (11:07:54 PM): haha Scrubrunt1 (11:08:57 PM): i'm tryin to get josh to do the musical, i think matt should too TorrenteBordeaux (11:09:02 PM): lol good luck with that TorrenteBordeaux (11:09:07 PM): they won't do it Scrubrunt1 (11:09:24 PM): u never kno TorrenteBordeaux (11:09:34 PM): eh, perhaps not... but i can be pretty sure Scrubrunt1 (11:09:55 PM): just cuz u think ur all to cool for it .... TorrenteBordeaux (11:10:02 PM): ... TorrenteBordeaux (11:10:11 PM): are you joking? Scrubrunt1 (11:10:21 PM): wouldn't u like to kno TorrenteBordeaux (11:10:25 PM): ya Scrubrunt1 (11:10:26 PM): do u thhink that Scrubrunt1 (11:10:27 PM): lol TorrenteBordeaux (11:10:58 PM): i don't think im too cool for it... it's just not my thing. If I asked you to join me in a programming competition, and you didn't want to, you wouldn't think you were too cool for it Scrubrunt1 (11:12:35 PM): i was just kidding, but i wouldn't want to do a programming anything cuz ...no effense, i think its boring....well not that i've done it before, so i really don't kno i , i could luv doing it, but it doesn't seem like it would be my kinda thing, seeing how i'm techknowlegly challenged TorrenteBordeaux (11:13:00 PM): lol that's what I mean though... i kind of think doing a play would be boring... so it's just a matter of personal preference Scrubrunt1 (11:15:28 PM): ya cuz i don't see the fun and excitment in programing something compared to working on something for so long with other people and the excitment when the curtens about to open and then when your going out for curtain call to a clapping croud to whom u just gave a great nights entertainment and knowing thats what u and everyone else on the stage and everyone the hammered a nail or painted a board was working for TorrenteBordeaux (11:16:36 PM): eh, that doesn't sound appealing to me, i'd much rather get that sense of accomplishment after working out a complicated algorithm or debugging a program, and finally getting to see it run flawlessly TorrenteBordeaux (11:17:42 PM): which just shows that it all depends on the person Scrubrunt1 (11:19:03 PM): now thats all good, but knowing that u gave someone a night of fun makes u feel an amazing sence of accoplishment, that fact that u worked with those people on the stage for so long for that moment and when ur done and the croud is applauding and after when u see friends and total strangers tell u how much they luved it,...i personally thing there are few things better than that TorrenteBordeaux (11:20:15 PM): but that's the thing... i get that all from programming... there's nothing like getting compliments on a program i've written, or knowing that thousands of people all around the world are finding my programs fun and useful Scrubrunt1 (11:22:49 PM): like thats all cool, but its not just that its all the people ur with the people u can't stand that u got over it and put together a great performance, the nerves back stage...i'm not saying that making a game is easy cuz i kno it can't be but the fact that no one person can do a musical or play or anykind of performance weather its a concert or basketball game TorrenteBordeaux (11:23:42 PM): yes, but what most people don't realize is that when I program, I work with dozens of people from all over the world... some I can't stand, and some that I get along with very easily... so when I finish it, I get that same sense of doing a good job Scrubrunt1 (11:24:38 PM): do u work with them face to face....for a good amount of3 months??? TorrenteBordeaux (11:25:13 PM): usually not face to face, but by voice and by text... and often longer than three months Scrubrunt1 (11:27:36 PM): but u don't get the whole effect , musical incorprates so many things, music, acting, visual art, and a performance of a show is never the same each night u have no clue what could happen. the pit could fall apart, the scenery might not get on the sound go out, some one forgets there lines thers always the question of will it all come off well TorrenteBordeaux (11:28:39 PM): but there again, i get that all with programming... I have to incorporate visuals, sound, and gameplay, and complex algorithms, and blend them into a combination that is appealing to the user... and very often things can go wrong, compatability issues, or bugs... so it really is the same, in a very different way Scrubrunt1 (11:29:09 PM): now, do people kno that its u who made the game they enjoyed, and would they come up to u say...in the mall, and say oh ur the guy that made that game i really luved it? TorrenteBordeaux (11:29:19 PM): nope, it's usually online Scrubrunt1 (11:29:27 PM): when u finnish a game, do u still have the possablility of problems TorrenteBordeaux (11:29:32 PM): yep Scrubrunt1 (11:30:26 PM): exactly, i kno people who have been in nhs musicals who have had total strangers come up to them and tell them how much they luved the perfomance...is there really something that can compete with that? TorrenteBordeaux (11:30:34 PM): do you get people that come up to you in the mall and tell you that they really loved your acting in northgate's play? Scrubrunt1 (11:30:54 PM): not me personally, do u kno kerry wilson? TorrenteBordeaux (11:30:56 PM): yup... getting thousands of comments from people all over the world easily compares to that TorrenteBordeaux (11:31:02 PM): nope, the name sounds familiar though Scrubrunt1 (11:31:37 PM): thats what happend to her, just a dinky old northgate musical but some little girl recognized her TorrenteBordeaux (11:31:57 PM): well... that's one example of that happening... i know a few people who actually have been confronted face to face about their programs TorrenteBordeaux (11:32:07 PM): so technically it *could* happen to me TorrenteBordeaux (11:32:59 PM): I'm not saying programming is better than musical... im just saying that every feeling that can be felt from doing a musical can be felt in pretty much any other activity Scrubrunt1 (11:34:19 PM): i disagree some, yes. like sports but something where ur just staring at a screen...can be fun...but its not the same. TorrenteBordeaux (11:34:31 PM): you'd be surprised Scrubrunt1 (11:34:43 PM): (u kno i'm just having fun debating about what i luv) Scrubrunt1 (11:34:44 PM): how? TorrenteBordeaux (11:35:08 PM): lol im having fun debating what i love too Scrubrunt1 (11:35:23 PM): thats y this'll go on forever TorrenteBordeaux (11:35:29 PM): well, it is the same... like i explained above, i get every feeling from programming that you get from the musical Scrubrunt1 (11:37:59 PM): no,..now i've never programed but seeing the imediate reaction, the laugh when a line is delivered well....the anger that builds up is the viewer as a character is bullied and falsely acctused, there is so much more feeling and emossson that goes into and is evoked by a play or musical TorrenteBordeaux (11:38:36 PM): perhaps my emotion that I get isn't instantaneous.. but it is easily comparable Scrubrunt1 (11:38:49 PM): explain. please TorrenteBordeaux (11:39:33 PM): well, I get very proud, and get an extreme sense of accomplishment whenever I see praise of one of my projects, or when I see a huge company or website showing off my games... just like im sure you do when someone tells you you've done a good job TorrenteBordeaux (11:39:49 PM): it's different, undoubtedly... but it is comparable Scrubrunt1 (11:40:06 PM): i'm sur u do and thats amazing Scrubrunt1 (11:41:43 PM): but i think musical or any kind of theatre is much deeper than a game for all . the actors have to figure out how the author intentended the lines to be delivered. they have to figure out there manurisms so that they get the right reaction and feelings out ofthe odience Scrubrunt1 (11:42:33 PM): if done correctly the people that come to see the play will get mad. happy frustrates, tighten up in fear and be relieved when its over TorrenteBordeaux (11:42:39 PM): whenever I make a game or an application, I always have to think of how to invoke feeling and reaction out of my audience... rather than figured out how an author intended to do it, though.. I have to create it myself TorrenteBordeaux (11:43:00 PM): like I said, it's undoubtedly different... but that doesn't make it any less real Scrubrunt1 (11:45:13 PM): i just don't see....i gues i won't unless i try....how something like programing can give you or the people that are viewing ur art the emotion or feelings that something face to face and personal can TorrenteBordeaux (11:46:09 PM): well, like I said, it's different... It's not audible gasping, or getting extremely happy... but frustration and a sense of accomplishment certainly play a huge part in programming Scrubrunt1 (11:49:13 PM): i gues thats right, but just my personality and the way i am...i don't nessesarily get saticefaction or happiness out of staring at a screen trying to jump over somthing or shoot it...not everyone does...but ii think everyone gets upset when they see injustice or a group of kids that have had not training giving there hearts out to the audience in a performance and having a great time while doing so Scrubrunt1 (11:49:46 PM): and just practices are so much fun, being with all your friends and the cast party is sweet Scrubrunt1 signed off at 11:49:46 PM.
