We are looking for an excellent IT person to take over from one of our consultants who has taken care of IT part-time. Security, integrity, and up-time are vital to keep our client information secure and our business running smoothly. Currently our network of Apple Macs works efficiently, and we want to ensure this continues.
The role is for an MIS/IT Manager/Developer to administer our IT network and rationalise/develop our internal MIS software. An ideal candidate would have experience of:
administering our Mac OS X Server and Mac OS X and Windows client networks (Unix/Linux experience also useful)
designing and configuring network backup schemes (eg with Retrospect)
providing and configuring mail, VPN, internal web services etc. 
supporting users with software such as Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel) 
understanding business needs for applications like group calendars and taking make-or-buy decisions
developing object oriented software with graphical user interfaces (eg with RealBasic/Visual Basic)
databases, SQL (particularly PostgreSQL but other full-featured multi-user SQL platforms useful)
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications, but is likely to be in the range £30-40k + benefits.
