When trying to decide what places to apply to, I came up with a list of qualifications they had to meet.  First, and most importantly, I would need the opportunity to work with interesting people; the type of people that would make me want to learn more from them.  Second, I want the opportunity to work on compelling projects.  I have prided myself on the ability to learn a variety of skills so that no matter what role was needed for a project, I can fill it.  Finally, I want the ability to try new things and experiment with what people accept as fact.
