I have been graciously donated server space that is on a shared 100 megabit Internet connection. I have been allocated ports 4418 - 4438 for BZFS servers. The owner has wished to remain anonmynous. Lag is extremely low, because of this blazing fast connection (there seems to be quite a bit of jitter, but it happens on a random basis and could be the player's connection). There are a few small requirements, though: - First, I give Planet MoFo admins, cops, and hidden admins jurisdiction on all BZFS servers I set-up on his server. I may also use my groups in addition to Planet MoFo's (MoFo.Admin, MoFo.Cop, and MoFo.Hidden). This is not a big particular issue as the MoFo people rarely visit my server. ;) - I can do any rules I want. Whatever fits me. :) - That's actually it, I'm glad there isn't a rule 3. Basically it's my server except for the fact it's on another computer and I SSH into it (oh, and did I mention it's on a 100 megabit connection?). I also got a wish list... they are really simple and any help is greatly appreciated. :D - Find (or build?) some kind of application that forwards port 80 to another server, as the server owner that has done all this for me prefers not to start a web server. Any other ports goes to my computer (thanks to the No-Ip.com domain: bzflag.bounceme.net) - Get a real domain. They're pretty cheap actually. - Work on a BZFS portal. Kinda like what Thumper has running at bzflag.norang.ca servers. It lists the players currently on each server, keeps track of all past players. View bans, kicks, mutes, reports, and anything/everything else worth/useless knowing. - When MasterBot is operational, use it. - Compile instead of upload BZFS to the server. Sadly, his compiler is slightly broken and anything it compiles subsequently breaks... I am trying to help him out by fixing the compiler, but so far no luck. It's quite a hassle to upload CVS versions of BZFS and compile new plugins... and the bugs since it's not compiled natively... :| (so, far the current plan is to create a chroot and compile inside of it using a GCC binary, but I'm having problems of jailkit working and I can't find the plain 'ol chroot source.., maybe it's in a package? Help...!) So, that's it pretty much it there. I decided to make it the People's Server and divide up the ports fairly. Great for those who don't want to dive into serving themselves or who want a fast connection, given a few compromises. So, the ports (4418 - 4438) shall be allocated as follows: - 4418 - 4419 shall be an admin upload server and a map of the day or such. - 4420 - 4431 shall be dedicated to me. - 4432 - 4434 shall be for friends of mine. - 4434 - 4436 shall be a "server-for-all" on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must book it for two weeks at a time and in advance, furthermore you may not book it for more than one time in a row. You must book it 24 hours before a person's time expires. (A.K.A.: The Being Fair To Others And Letting Everyone Get A Chance Rule) If you wish to not deal with "booking it" I may add it to a rotation, this is acceptable (please note, that they are 2 hour rotations and I will not do over 6 rotations per port). - 4437 - 4438 shall be rotational, the last one may be used for other purposes, if I so desire. I shall also try to gain other ports. If possible, another 20 would be helpful - now to go and talk to Mr. Anonmynous. ;) ... O_o
