Paradise has a few rules for server administrators and operators. Final draft. Server admin policies: * The server must have their bots/abuse policies clearly stated in the motd and (accurate) contact information must be stated in the (ADMIN) A:lines. * That said, server admins are allowed to do what ever they want with their MOTD. * Server admins are permitted to use what ever name they want, but you are strongly encouraged to use *.Paradise.Net. Server names must be cleared with us before link. * The server administration must take measures against the use of things such as tor and proxies with the help of BOPM. BOPM is required. We will supply you with a config file to use. * The server must be on a legitimate shell. Hacked servers are completely unallowed. * Server administrators are responcible for the actions of the operators on their server. If abuse comes from a certain server repeatably, you may earn yourself a noop or a delink. * Server administrators may add as many operators as they want (within reason of course), but note, as I said before, if you give a jackass oper and fucks up shit, it will be you who will be in shit. * Dont give people operator on your server just because you think they are “kool” - do it out of necessity. Kline/killing local users: * I tried to fashion our policy similar to EFnets. Efnet policy is basically that all local things are okay...for example..you kill or kline a local user for what ever reason, even abusish, and it dosent matter. * On one hand, I would like to totally use that policy. I cant tell someone who owns and pays for a server that they cant decide who can go on THEIR server can I? Yet on the other side of the token, I cant have operators repetably banning people just because they dont like them. So to reach a comermise... * So basically, just use your good judgement. If you are stupid, dont expect to stay around long :) Abuse policy: * Abuse is not tolerated. Period. * Operators are to stay out of channel matters. * KILL is not a toy. * Being a operator/admin does not make you cool. Nor does it extend your v- pen0r. * Operators are not to use gline/akill/kline/dline/resv lightly. You may not just ban someone because they told you that “U R GAY, LOL”. services you will loose your access. * The only time when it is really appropriate to use akill/kline/etc is when a user is A.) tor client B.) proxy client C.) Cloning or D.) spam. * As I stated above, server admins are responcible for their operators. Glines: * Glines are to be disabled on your server. Glines are disabled on all other servers, including the hubs. Attitude: * This is not unreal and is not a typical network. Being a operator does not make you some demigod. There are no operator levles here. Get over it. Misc: * Operators must keep network matters out of -Os channels. There is way too much discussion of private network matters in public. * Network decisions are reached via a consensus between all of the server administrators. There are no rash decisions. Settings: * You must compile your server with a NICKLEN (nick legenth limit) of 16. during ./configure append –with-nicklen=16 * You must compile your server with a TOPICLEN ot 512. append --with-topiclen=512 to ./configure. Then edit include/setup.h and find topiclen and change it to 512. * Use max_bans of 256 and max_channels 50. * You are strongly encouraged to compile your server with –with-openssl and listen on 6697 for SSL client connections.
