Message from michaelc97: http://michaelc.slylabs.com/Draft.htm Hey guys I think all D developers should come together and create a standard world class library. I think we could combine several different projects into one big project with subprojects . I have been jumping in and out of D for a while, and there is just seems to be so too much small projects competing with each other. I think D needs exposure, but in order to get that it needs a good standard world class library(like .net/j2ee). I think every one should stop competing with eachother and bring their projects together. I have put together the following( I have seen something like this b4, cant remember where, credits to where ever). (image from the above URL) I am not an expert in D, and I may have not thought things out clearly, but I think this could be very possible. Would anyone be willing to put together something like this? Any changes to that would improve this structure/base/ is welcomed. A committee could be formed to create/modify the structure? If you think this is a good idea to do, maybe you could forward this to the right ppl? ----------------------------------------------------------------- My response:
Hey guys I think all D developers should come together and create a standard world class library.
I could not disagree more. Monolithic libraries are a bad design decision. The ideal development pattern in a F/OSS-supporting environment is independent development with easy integration, which is the goal of DSSS. - Gregor Richards PS: Half the libraries you listed to be combined are Windows-only, the other half conflict with each other.
