step 1: open restricted manager and DISABLE fglrx (this will uninstall the driver, but that's OK)
step 2: reboot
step 3: install the deb for xorg-driver-fglrx (the one that the ati installer made)
step 4: open restricted manager and RE-ENABLE fglrx
step 5: pray
step 6: reboot
