GOAL: Install Cdk.pm HISTORY: Downloaded Cdk.pm from CPAN Following install instructions in the README file. README file indicates that cdk library must be installed ( So I installed and tested it) README file indicates that I must recompile perl with Cdk as an extension: I installed and compiled a separate copy of perl to avoid messing my RPM based system. (INstall successful) COMPILE PROCEDURE: #1 modify Makefile.PL to point to lib and include files : (THis is teh Cdk Makefile.PL ) # Linux WriteMakefile( 'NAME' => 'Cdk', 'VERSION' => '4.9.1', 'LIBS' => ['-L/usr/local/lib -lcdk -lncurses'], 'DEFINE' => '-DNCURSES -DCOLOR -DCDK_PERL_EXT', 'INC' => '-I/usr/include/ncurses -I/usr/local/include/cdk', 'clean' => {FILES => 'Makefile.old'}, ); #2. Change directories into the Perl5 home directory and rerun Configure. When it asks about Perl5 extensions, make sure that Cdk is in the list. If it's not then add it. Configure will ask about statically or dynamically loaded extensions, pick one for Cdk. Don't choose both. i ACTION: Ran Configure added the libraries -lcdk -lncurses Script already knew about Cdk extention ( cause I put iit in .../perl/ext/Cdk i guess) RESULT: config.sh reflects the action. libs='-lnsl -lgdbm -ldb -ldl -lm -lcrypt -lutil -lc -lcdk -lncurses' dynamic_ext='attrs B ByteLoader Cdk Cwd... extensions='attrs B ByteLoader Cdk Cwd... known_extensions='attrs B ByteLoader Cdk Cwd... #3. Run make and let Perl rebuild itself. PROBLEM: Ran make and it aborts at Cdk. REFERENCE MATERIAL: (README and BUILD LOG FILES) http://24.7.36.133/cdk_project/Cdk.pm_files/
