I am trying to perform an install of gentoo on a system where the primary disks will be in a hardware RAID1 using the ServerWorks Broadcom BCM5785 chipset [HT1000] on a Tyan S3892 (K8HM) system board.

The sata_svw driver does not recognize the controller if I enable to RAID configuration in the bios.  
lspci shows:
  01:0e.0 RAID bus controller: Unknown device 182f:000b
  
If I enabled the SATA configuration in the bios, the controller recignized, and the sata_svw driver works.
lspci shows:
  01:0e.0 RAID bus controller: Broadcom BCM5785 [HT1000] SATA (Native SATA Mode)

uname -a

Is there a way to make the sata_svw driver work with this RAID card in a RAID configuration.
