This is a compilation of the most common questions about the Seed Points mod.  Hopefully it will clear up most questions for users.  All this data was gathered from altinertia's very good post and the subsequent questions on it.

Seed Points FAQ

Q: What is the main purpose of the mod?

A: Some torrents are very popular and will continuously have leeches being added even when they are older.  Most are not that lucky and will have seeds but little to no leeches.  The Seed Points mod provides a way for users to achieve a 1.0 ratio on a torrent even when there are no leeches to upload to.

Q: What conditions must be met to get Seed Points?

A: There are five conditions you must meet to get Seed Points.
- The torrent has a seeder/leecher ratio over 20 or no leeches
- You are active on the torrent and have finished it
- Your torrent ratio is less than 1.0
- You are connectable
- You are not the uploader of the torrent

Q: What do you mean by seeder/leecher ratio over 20?

A: For each leecher, there must be 20 seeds to meet that condtion.  For example, if there are 2 leechers, the torrent must have 40 seeds to meet the first condition.

Q: In my details page, I see two columns SP and Cost with no values. What are they for?

A: These columns will only contain values for torrents that meet all the conditions for Seed Points.  SP shows how many Seed Points you have currently gained on that torrent.  Otherwise they will be empty.

Q: How do I know when I can stop the torrent?

A: When the SP equals the Cost the ratio for that torrent will be levelled to 1.0 and the remaining upload amount required will be added to your global ratio.  When you see the green 1.000, then you can safely stop the torrent.

Q: How is Cost calculated?

A: Cost is based on the size of the torrent.  The minimum value for Cost is 5.

Q: The conditions are met.  How do I earn Seed Points?

A: Leave the torrent open and seeding in your client.  Every 15 minutes you will get 0.25 points added to your SP column instead of your upload.

Q: The seed points per hour is so low!  I'll have to seed this for hours/days/weeks!

A: This is a private site and we do have ratio requirements.  Members are reponsible for maintaining their ratios and this is just another tool for that.  For those members who do not have access to high bandwidth upload speeds, this is just as good as if not better than actual uploading.  Also this also makes seeding more "meaningful" and you're not wasting your time seeding when there are no leeches.

Q: I had a number in SP and Cost but then a leech joined and it went back to "---".  Do I still have my Seed Points for that torrent?

A: Yes.  Your points are saved.  They are just not visible if the conditions are not met.  When the leecher has finished you will see the number again.

Q: I've already uploaded part of the torrent.  Will that affect how many SP I need to meet the Cost?

A: Yes, if you have uploaded half of the torrent, your required Cost will also be halved.

Q: I had to download a torrent twice.  Will I get the true amount I downloaded back when Seed Points are finished?

A: Yes, it will match whatever your download amount is.

Q: Do I need to install anything to get Seed Points?

A: No, it is part of our tracker and only requires that you show up as a seed when all other requirements are met as listed previously.

Q: I do not have the files anymore to seed them!  What are my options?

A: You can get Seed Points but you will have to download it again completely (look 2 questions up).
