To all the n00bs here who are so worried about where the donations are going, just chill ffs. We reset the counter at the end of each month, regardless of if we got more than 1000 euros in the last month or not. We keep this money to one side, so that during months where we don't get many donations (like this month because of free leech) we still have reserves to pay for the site's bill. The site is now running on 2 servers, the webserver (which we've had since august 2005 when we started), which costs 210 euros a month, and our new database server which costs 500 euros a month. There is no website to point you to because our new server was custom ordered and there is no "standard" server even remotely like it on our datacenter's website. But here are the specs of our 2 servers: WebServer (nothing special, its quite old, and may be in need of a cheap upgrade soon): Procase CE-C2B-F Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz with Hyper Threading - 800Mhz FSB with 1MB cache 4x512 MB DDR 400 Ram 160GB SATA Hard Drive Database: Dell PE2950 2x Quad Core Intel® Xeon® E5335, 2x4MB Cache, 2.0GHz, 1333MHZ FSB (yes, thats right, 8 cores) 4x1GB Ram 5x73 GB - 15K RPM SAS (4 Hard drives are in RAID 10, with a hot spare in case one of those 4 fails) To the people who think other sites bigger than us run with cheaper hardware, your sadly mistaken. Take a look on other sites with similar amounts of even more amounts of users that run cheaper.... Look at the peer counts, they will be nowhere NEAR the peer counts that you see here (100000+) Users on ScT are waay more active than most, if not all other sites. Then some of you may say that you seem some sites with more users and more peers with cheaper hardware, well guess what, they don't count since they aren't running torrentbits base code, they use something like XBT Tracker which is much lighter on resources, but a lot more limited. The remaining 300 euros is used to help our uploaders bring you guys all the uploads (i don't want to go into too much detail here). If you take a look at similar sites (CT, ST) which also require money to help out with uploading costs, you'll see that they have very similar costs to us
