It will create a submenu for the GNOME applications - really nice and useful. apt-get install netspeed # synful.info 18:00:53 yeah the fact taht something else breaks because you installed some other software is annoying # Taggy 18:01:34 yeah ! but ubuntu can help fixing them by sudo apt-get -f install Hi, there is a debian package available from the same page. just download it and install using "dpkg -i kmenu-gnome_0.5-1_all.deb" . Ubuntu is based on Debian, so all debian packages can be installed on it. aptitude itself is the debian package manager. Anyway the link is http://www.kde-apps.org/content/search.php?search=1&name=k%20menu%20gnome . Make sure you download the deb package. As an aside, you can also install rpms on Ubuntu too, just install rpm-build package using apt-get, and you can use rpm from command line. You dont need that script anyway once you install kmenu-gnome. For your last problem, you can try apt-get clean/purge. The problem is that your last package install did not complete and apt goes berserk after that. build-essential is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed. Need to get 0B of archives. If you remember the package name you installed before build-essential, just reinstall it again, that should work. It may be due to reverse dependency too, which is when you install package A and B was installed as a dependency of A, removing it will remove B too but if package C requires B too, you get a failed dependency problem. Long story short, did you uninstall anything? - Show quoted text - sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -phigh > screen resolution fix sudo lspci sudo lspci -v sudo lspci -v | less > to see which graphics card one has sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -phigh SINDHU"S COLLECTION OF COMMANDS! sindhu-s.com
