We (dalien and MingChen) discussed some improvements in the OGS Framework. We both agree that sandbox mode should not have a feature over grid mode, and grid mode should not have bugs which are nonexistent in sandbox mode. To fix this, we came up with a few ideas: *Restructure the framework to have "core" functions. **The functions include things like: "get user profile from name or key", "get region information by handle or key", "create user and return user profile", "add new prim and return key", "delete prim". **The core functions will be in their own project (located in OpenSim.Framework). **These core functions can call each other and other framework functions (storage interfaces, etc) ONLY (to prevent any dependence on which mode -- grid or sandbox -- said function works in. **The core functions should never know which mode it is in. *Restructure storage framework so above can work correctly **Since core functions will take advantage of the storage framework (getting, creating, deleting things), Sandbox Mode and Grid Mode should not have separate storage interfaces (Grid Mode has MySQL -- missing in Sandbox Mode) Another idea was to make sandbox mode similar to OGS. Use threads to simulate running separate servers -- communicating with each thread the same way as remote clients, but using loopback addresses. Alternatively, each core function would have to have a remote and local version. Opinions are welcome. Please reply with what you think!
