    * Importance of having all steps to process, create, design, develop & test. These do not have to always have to be done in order; there are several ways to breakdown steps

My approach for software development is relatively pragmatic.  There is no "magic pill".  Development is hard work. Process, and strategy, are there to prevent wasting time. It'll never be perfect, because if it was, you'd automate it and move on.

Bearing that in mind, there are lots of pitfalls developers fall into when they first start out, that many of them never break out of. These pitfalls contribute to failed projects, overspending, and more emergencies.

If your client would like me to teach the course, I need about 3 business days lead time to develop the courseware. My minimum fee to appear onsite anyplace that I have to fly would be $1200 + expenses.  My hourly rate is $100/hr.

My questions to your client would be as follows:

1) Is this for a small team, or large team?
2) Is a lecture only, or some hands-on desired?
3) For hands-on will participants receive stations, or will they bring their own machines?
4) Will a projector be provided?  A whiteboard also?
5) How many participants are expected to attend?
6) What is the location, and desired dates?

You did write me your first email advising me of your $100.00 per hour so if you take a 7 hour day that is $700.00 per day, correct?  I did ask you if you could do that in my second email to you and I don’t think you answered it.

 

I can do around $700-800 per day plus all your travel costs.  I understand if you cannot!

A few other questions, which came to mind:

1) What major development category are the attenders using? (Example, web, client, server, or other) ?
2) What languages or technologies are they familiar with, if any?
3) What's the approximate "level" of the attenders?
