FreeSWITCH[tm] has done 3000 concurrent channels with media on hardware now a year old we have more than 150 000 subscription to ekiga.net well, this raise more issues... CPU... its a guess that with current modern cpus you should be able to do 6000 channels per chassis, both because there are 2x the cores as well as 50% additional cycles per core granted it wont scale linearly, I also gave plenty of room for extra overhead hum... more than 130 000 actually a dual woodcrest 2.0 GHz has done the 3000 concurrent channels k a dual clovertown (quad instead of dual core) at 3.0GHz should be able to at least double your channel capacity but it depends on what exactly you are doing with those channels, the test was to play back a file and iirc it was a wav so there was slight transcoding going on hum... I think we can't do that... do what? i'll see with damien when he comes back from holidays we rely on sponsor. a dual clovertown at 3.0GHz is what $6k now? that makes it $1/port total cost for hardware. not a bad initial cost ahh
