I have the same idea I don't know if when they release a new update version if that is the version you will run after the yum update because /etc/redhat-release is still on the same version as where I installed the machine with it will not update from 4 to 5 for instance but from 4.4 to 4.5, that's taken care of with a yum update and it should update redhat-release along with it. yeah, but that is not done, update the redhat-release that it doesn't upgrade from 4 to 5... I understand that... I still want to run 4.5 I think umm, it is on my machines. jds2001, strange not happening here :S let me dive into it.. I have to go now * jlgaddis has a centos box that had 4.2 installed, then updated to 4.4, then updated to 4.5 and redhat-release was updated every time mhh btw, is there a good reason to run 5.0 on production servers ? or 4.5 is still good enough ? because upgrading from 4 to 5 is a pain as far as I can see if you need the features in it. not yet on this machine simple xeon server 4.5 is goiong to be supported til 2012 in some fashion.... well i should say 4.x 4.8 is likely to be the last 4.x release I asked another person that runds CentOS, and there it also stays on 4.4 :S *runs hmm i just ran yum update on a 4.4 centos VM i've got sitting around and centos-release i386 6:4-4.3 base 22 k is one of the packages to be updated.... $ cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 4.5 (Final) $ rpm -q centos-release centos-release-4-4.3 * hal11 is now known as hal * Man_at_Arms (n=xylog@pool-72-83-152-25.washdc.fios.verizon.net) Quit ("Leaving") * szec (n=axiom@unaffiliated/szec) Quit ("Ω") * StuartMI (n=StuartMI@63.85.215.242) Quit ("Lake Titicaca") * rexbinary (n=rexbinar@unaffiliated/rexbinary) has joined #rhel * szec (n=axiom@unaffiliated/szec) has joined #rhel * CleeK (n=CleeK@bwah.nogoa.org) has joined #rhel * CleeK (n=CleeK@bwah.nogoa.org) Quit (Read error: 113 (No route to host)) * zambaroo (i=greg@belphegor.rulim.de) has joined #rhel * Nico_Bdav_ (n=nico@shm67-2-82-227-191-194.fbx.proxad.net) has joined #RHEL hi guys, has anyone managed to get vsftpd to chmod files after upload to the configured anon_umask? hi all does someone know how to fix rpm --rehdatprovides under RHEL5 ? * Man_at_Arms (n=xylog@pool-72-83-152-25.washdc.fios.verizon.net) has joined #rhel Man_at_Arms: I want fios :-( but it's unlikely to ever happen where i live :-( jds2001_ go to korea, they have had that for a long time. hehe im in NYC :-) like it here except the slow Internet :-).
