* Now talking on #ampache * Topic for #ampache is: Ampache :: Pour l'Amour de la Musique :: 3.4-Alpha1 Released 07/29/2007 :: http://xkcd.com/293/ * Topic for #ampache set by vollmer at Sun Jul 29 18:07:24 2007 im not gonan bother coding a php id3 reader im also only going to support mp3 files with an option to transcode.. and to think, i thought PHP was for serving webpages. php is extremely slow you don't say if u agree with me then i dont see which view ur trying to supprot? i also agree with the fact that PHP is not capable of supporting HTTP protocol properly. it's a regular act of voodoo to get it to stream properly especially in the file serving department you see, HTTP has this thing called "content-length", and "content-offset", and the HTTP 206 partial code when interfacing a player which can seek, many requests will be made when users decide to for instance, a bug was recently reported to me that "ampache scrobbles my song 3 times if i seek around in the song 3 times" Or scrobbles 3 times with no seeking ;) lol that and it's a battle with the clients to behaive in a semi-sane manner when requesting http files now, i'm not saying that you guys are lying to your users about bugs of yours being in the player that my users use (and also, the xmms2 people suffer from similar issues, but i'm not talking for them) but it seems pretty goddamn likely. too bad darwin wont stream mp3's nenolod: yea it's an issue when the client requests the while file (ampache sees it as a played more then 50%) thus it gets scrobbled *the whole file so, i just wanted to let you guys know that any bugs we receive from users interfacing their player with http/1.1 incompliant apps (like Ampache, which btw is impossible to fully implement HTTP/1.1 because PHP can't return a 206), will be automatically closed as won't fix that's all! toodles Since I'm not sure if you are referring to me (I recently logged into your channel with a similiar question) so if you are ... I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't put words into my mouth as to my intentions. what? * You have left channel #ampache ("Give me a proper HTTP/1.1 supporting server/service and I can rule the world.")
