tests: the window manager has nothing to do with the distro. you can rip out KDE and put in icewm, fluxbox or whatever. tests: in fact, if you install icewm, a "good" distro will make it available to you at the time you log in. *and* keep menus consistent across all versions of window managers o so under pclinuxos you should go to synaptic and install icewm and see if you can get it when you log back in. this offerd kde an some others i forget that's what I was trying to tell you yesterday about a "base linux install" - that's not the kernel, that's a basic system with a good package manager. and most of these distros are just a customized version of debian... im lost buddy i try all im told would work an im not close to happy lol no you haven't ok you got me elive i couldnt d/l or i would have lol hell i even tryd centos I'm sorry or what ever its called 5disks yuck if i knew this stuff better i could probable make my own but i dont i got the time but not the know how you don't need to make your own. You can customize pclinux most likely. all you're really looking for is a differen WM and a particular program... i dont know how to shred it to have ice an the new kde so when i get the 512 i can use it do you have it up now? + this has stuff i read the info on an still got no clue on yes im on it now try this. Hit alt-f2 and in the window that comes up type "ksysguard" (no quotes) and click run or ok or whatever. or whatever the system monitor for kde is hmmm... yeah. ksysguard is a kde applet for system monitoring. alt f12 nothing alt f12 nothing alt-f2 what's the best BSD to use? whichever one you like the best :) I don't know anything about any of them it wants url try free or open, they're good to start with I'm thinking a BSD would fit nicely on this system recovery partition on this acer... freebsd? aye I got another suggestion for PCBSD, got an opinion on it? thats what i tryd it's based on freebsd; past that I've no experience with it kthx the pc 1 watnt mostly com line i was told by everyone to use that ugh im confussing ok pcbsd i got it didnt go on here that was the 1 thay all said for me to get ok so in here put what tell me an ill do it i dont care at this point it sounds like you're about done, tests. You've got a working linux install right? yes so what are you wanting us to tell you? how to get a sysmoniter would be nice lol start up synaptic and search for "system monitor"? since it's KDE, it will use whatever the canonical KDE tool is. I don't know what that is. or maybe modify the taskbar and add a monitor applet to it? you're not going to get a distro that does things exactly the way you want. I just setup a new notebook, took me several weeks to get things the way I like them. also search for other window managers while you're in synaptic ok, yeah. pcbsd looks nice altf2 is that were id put in system moniter? would it get me 1 alt-f2 generally just gets you a window where you can run a command so you need to know the name of the system monitor command to use it there o fooeee ok back to there list use the "apropos" command or "apt-cache search" you'll want to open up a terminal for either of those ok the fist1 did nothing the second gave me a lot to read apropos searches man pages for text apt-cache search searches through available packages. So something like "apt-cache search system monitor | less" will let you browse through a list of stuff. It's the same list you get when searching in synaptic. i did the 1st 1 an got a prompt so I probably shouldn't have mentioned it... whats the difference? did you give it a keyword to search for? you might want to read the man page for it, too, or for both that and apt-cache the 1st 1 no if you asked someone who was familiar with pclinuxos, tests, about system monitor tools they could probably give you an answer instantly. we don't know any more about pclinuxos that you do... there's probably a #pxlinuxos channel on this network i under stand sorry to bug ya lol i can be a pest some times huh? lol we don't mind trying to help with general linux stuff but you're asking questions specific to pclinuxos, so you'll want to direct those to someone who can help you. i understand it probably has some sort of system monitor tool, but you'll want to refer to the package list to see what that is. ok back to readin the list thanks for your time yes, freenode has a "#pclinuxos" channel. and better a "#pclinuxos-support" channel i no im in them no answer to that question? i dont get responce much thats why i ask in here
