Oroborous, the Coils of Endless Creation Vhar'j, Purity of Potential Everything, everything Dancing, laughing manything Skywards shooting twinkling star That is what the Vhar'j are - Lorilee childrens' rhyme Vhar'j are the residents of the Oroborous, gatherings of unrealized potential without permanent form. The quality that sets them apart from the everchanging landscape of the "Stars Beyond Stars" is called the Nevatalai - a deep connection to the world of forms. The Nevatalai is an artificial link that binds the Vhar'j to the integrity of the Weave and more specifically to certain recurring patterns in it. Whenever their designated pattern shows unusual fluctuation, the Vhar'j correct the disturbance by absorbing it to themselves and then slowly mending the broken threads with the energy harvested from the primordial chaos, while breaking apart the absorbed threads and releasing them back into the Oroborus. If several disturbances occur at the same time, the Vhar'j become unable to process the woven threads back into their original formless state and form a very simplistic persona by taking onto themselves some of the attributes the absorbed threads contain. This pseudo-individuality usually does not last long as it is in the Vhar'j's intrisic nature to let go easily - nothing around them ever stays the same - but sometimes the amount of unprocessed threads reaches a point where the Vhar'j manages to acquire a persona strong enough to consider itself a true individual. It thus becomes aware of itself and becomes a sentient, no longer a mindless drone but a newborn spirit. Based on the pattern code it is tied to and the threads it has absorbed, it starts developing certain traits such as the need to survive and evolve. It starts analyzing its forever-changing surroundings, looking for consistency and purpose while abandoning its function by becoming selective with the threads it receives from the disturbance; choosing which to deconstruct and which to keep. The newly awakened spirit wanders in the limitless reality aimlessly, occasionally finding others of its kind, until it eventually realizes that it cannot find what it is looking for from the chaotic tempests of the Oroborous. It begins to reach for the world on the other end of the Nevatalai, at the source of its individuality. The Nevalatai are an unique phenomena, a non-geometric point at which realities brush against eachother in order to make the two-way interaction possible. When the Vhar'j reaches the border inbetween the two realities, it finds itself unable to pass through. A proverbial gate - a safeguard of sorts - keeps it from passing from the Oroborous into physical reality on its own. It can sense its own patterns on the other side from such close proximity, and starts lingering close to the border - hopeful that it'll find a way to pass through. Symbiosis Deathbed, desperation manifest Prolonging fading life is but dream It has always been an endless quest All dying spirits wish upon a star Only daemon-kissed wishes get answered That is the cruelest part of it all To a witchblooded, death is the greatest of mysteries and the most morbid form of beauty. The threads of spirit begin to unravel with fading life, braiding together into a sequence beyond mortal replication. Every unfulfilled spirit wishes for a chance to prolong their life with whatever means necessary, even if the gates of Yashain open up before them. - From the private letters of Marie Cruxfeld, Mistress of the Priory
