Joshua Owoc 10-16-07 Mythology The Bhagavad Gita The Bhagavad Gita is a small part of a collection of religious texts, the Mahabharata. “This story takes place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra just prior to an epic battle” (“Bhagavad Gita“). And all of this is all a conversation between Krishna and Arunja. Krishna explains to Arunja about his duties as a warrior and a prince, a guide to life (“Bhagavad Gita”). The article from Wikipedia states that the Bhagavad Gita is the explanation of the 5 concepts or truths: Ishvara (The Supreme Controller) Jiva (Living being/the soul) Prakrti (Matter) Karma (Action) Kala (Time). And through out the text Krishnu teaches Arunja certain lessons such as without action, the cosmos would fall out of order and truth would be obscured (“Bhagavad Gita”). Or that the physical world must not be forgotten or neglected. He suggest the opposite, but he ultimately wants you to follow the path to the realm of the Supreme. The Bhagavad Gita also can be summed up in 12 parts of this story, kinda like chapters and all that they cover is the beginning of the battle to the revelations of good and evil inside people and how the whole universe is all one because everything is Krishnu and thusly Krishnu is everything. Krishnu even goes to say that when a new age begins again, he remolds the people and sends them forth (Bhagavad Gita).
