Mahatma Gandhi once said “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of other.” In life there will always be opportunities to sacrifice a personal goal for a greater cause. Your decisions in those scenarios reflect your morals and ultimately your character. This particular experience forced me to realize that sometimes I will be put in situations where I must decide whether to help myself or help others and my decision will determine the type of person I am. In my case I sacrificed an award at graduation in return for the reassurance of man’s wellbeing. This experience not only helped me grow as an individual but also built on my personality of being a concerned, sympathetic, and considerate person.
