First off as most of you know I have really taken to the linux port the one thing that gets on my nerves is that AVI files can't be watched while downloading like they can on the xbox. I realize this is probably a mplayer vs dvdplayer thing. My Basic setup is I'm downloading a file on my win32 PC and sharing it to XBMC_Linux. Now on the xbox as long as I can download the file faster than it takes to watch it I'm fine. But on linux it will only play the section of the file that I have downloaded at the time of starting playback then stop even though by the time I get to that section I have allready downloaded the entire file so its all there for it to play. I'm guessing this is just that its reading / caching the info about the file before it starts to play it instead of just assuming to keep playing as long as there is data being sent. Like it does with quicktime movies from Apple movie trailers script From memory this also effected trying to stream a live TV recording as well from my win32 PC in the form of a .ts file as its being recorded. Again this isn't a problem on the xbox version So I guess I'm asking can maybe elupus and vulknar take a look at making it work the same as on the xbox. I guess the real reason I ask is I live in australia (we have crap internet compared to the rest of the world) and downloading a 350mb xvid episode of heroes takes about 35 minutes and then 40 minutes to watch so it would be nice not to have to wait the whole 35mins to start watching it like I can on the xbox. Thanks in advance for anyone looking into this Jezz
