2007-12-09 - 0.9x versions of Transmission are banned Because of the massive problems of the recently released version 0.95 of Transmission, the staff has finally decided to ban the whole 0.9 branch of this client. The 0.9 versions had problems from the very beginning, most of them affected "only" the user, but neither the other peers of the swarms nor the tracker. Crashes, memory leaks and broken UPnP are not our concern in the first place. But the flaws sum up, we cannot and don't want to spend our time for repairing and supporting problems, we haven't created and only the developers can solve in the end. A high number of users report an extreme high amount of failed hash checks and also the corruption of already completed files. Here is finally the point reached, where any ratio based tracker has to react. And even without ratio tracking, we cannot let other peers in the swarms suffer for the bugs of one client. Transmission users can still use the allowed versions 0.7, 0.81 and 0.82. On the Transmission board various users have reported success with the switch to 0.82. Anyone can read the reports and how the developers reacted so far on the Transmission board as well. Regards, BS Staff
