Dear fellow members of EGO, I've been talking with Mrs. Heiser, and we've noticed that nobody appears interested in supporting the LAN club. After sending out one or two announcements asking for ideas, input, and general suggestions, we've gotten one or two people to respond. Most of the people in the club, including the ones interested in starting a card games group, seem completely apathetic. This is unacceptable. It may sound harsh, but a) two or three people cannot run a LAN party from start to end, let alone set it up, and b) why would we? The club is a volunteer organization - nobody gets paid for this. We set up parties because they're a lot of fun - people come from all over the community, not just Wausau, and everyone has a blast. Parents have come up and thanked us for providing such a family-friendly place for their kids to play games with others, and of course, everyone who comes has tons of fun. We only got to arrange one LAN last year because of senioritis, but it was great. We had enough participation that we were able to get eveything running smoothly, including food runs to Little Caesar's and Subway. There were plenty of Xboxes and PCs, and even a couple of Wiis and PS3s. But we can't do this unless we have substantial support from you guys, the students. We need more communication - a SINGLE person replied to the email we sent about setting up a dot-com website and a forum. Because of the teacher contract issues, we can't have meetings in school right now - we need to communicate online. Right now, we have nearly zero support, and we can't do anything if nobody's around to help. Last year, we had the club up and running by October - it's December now, and nothing's going anywhere. If you're still interested in working with EGO to set up a safe, fun gaming marathon a couple of times a year, please let us know by responding to this email. If we don't hear anything, we won't expect anything. I'd hate to see the club shut down this year, but if nobody is interested, that's our only option. Sincerely, Matt
