Agiofws just use the lapi as the gateway  on your lan to the outside world and enable nat

Agiofws first of all you need (that is how i would do it) to  have the LAN on a dif. subnet 
Agiofws now set on the lans pcs connecting to your lapi via ethernet
Agiofws gateway the lapis "ip"
Agiofws to do this 
Agiofws route add default gw "lapis ip"  <----this on the clients of you lan 
Agiofws not on the lapi though 
Agiofws you don't need nat   <-----
Agiofws anyway  put the laptops "ip"  there where is says  DNS resolver 
Agiofws in windows 
Agiofws or linux in resolv.conf 
Agiofws and have the iptables on the laptop to accept policies
