I do prefer simple things. a) I would prefer (I know you, as developer, prefer otherwise) not to force users to use launchpad, as many reports wouldn't be filed at all. If you prefer, I'll file myself the bugs reported onwiki to the launchpad. ---- hehe - yes, OK. I think we should point them to lp, but by no means make it compulsory that they use it above any other method. b) "showing interest and applying" one or the other, it's not a poem ---- agreed c) "your application to have access" to me it sounds terrible, and again, it's not Sheakspeare, KISS ---- yes d) "granted and you are now authorised to use the tool" Again, KISS ---- again, yes e) "If you need any help, please feel free to ask a moderator" no, the first step is asking the user who approved it, the moderators are something purely formal, as every admin can approve users ---- Well, "ask on User talk:Martinp22/NPWatcher" might make more sense, as the approving admin may hove no idea how the programme works (we could also point them to the answers service on launchpad, but again, not compulsorily) f) " join the [irc:Npwatcher|IRC channel]]" I know of the new interwiki prefix, but I personally prefer to keep an external link as it clearly displays that it's leading to IRC by the icon next to it. ---- I didn't know that it existed, and was confused. The established standard is probably worth sticking to - how long until someone complains that only one network is represented on the irc: prefix? Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I believe strongly in KISS. This modifications appears to me unuseful and overly bureacratic. ---- I think I'm largely in agreement with you. When I made the diff to show you, I then reverted to your version. I just don't really want to trample on his efforts :S (too nice of me)
