Sports curriculum I am more than happy that you are taking the time to review this part of my application, even if it may not fit in the outlines of the general application glossary. I chose not to submit this résumé as an athletic supplement due to the fact that I have not, and at this time do not plan to take part in any professional competitive sports events. However, I do regard sports as an important part of my life so far, and, albeit for my own pleasure, have put a great deal of time and effort in them. All the sports in which I regard my self as skilled could be put under the general term of endurance spots. I do not want to leave the impression of not being able to order my ideas in a structured essay, however I believe the following structure to serve the purpose of this text a lot better: Skiing: - Taken up around the age of 4 - Practiced regularly each season; I spend about one week skiing each winter, in locations in Romania (eg. Sinaia, Predeal), and another one during easter holidays, abroad, usually in Austria (eg. Kitzsteinhorn, Schmittenhöhe). - I have won some prizes at contests when I was around the age of 12, but now I like to practice the sport freely. - Skiing may not be a consecrated endurance sport, but “freely” as mentioned above also includes this aspect of how I practice it. For me a day of skiing begins with the first run of the lift and ends with the last, often encompassing no breaks at all. Hiking and Mountaineering: -Taken up at the age of 10 during my first class trip -Practiced regularly during summer, I try to reserve at the very least 2 weeks of my summer holidays for this purpose -I, together with my companions usually practice this sport to near exhaustion. Our trips are not just nice walks through the woods, we seek harsh terrain, and usually start off one or two hours after dawn arriving only shortly before sunset (seeing as this is happening during summer it usually translates into more than 12 hours), again, breaks are only taken for eating and drinking or other necessities. -Although we try to not become reckless we usually do not use the map or the marked trails unless things start to look bad. We try to find our way solely with the help of a compass and random bits of information we may come across. It always proves very fun and challenging to have to think, as well as walk your way over the hills and mountains. Endurance running: -Taken up around the age of 10 -In the spring of 2005 I have entered the running department of the Dinamo Sport Club, making running the only sport which I practice in a coordinated fashion. -I usually go to training sessions only once per week during school, and three to four times per week when I am home during summer holidays. Seeing as my participation frequency is somewhat meager, there is no wonder that my performance is not suited for competitive events; however I am in no way underachieving and in my first years have often been encouraged by my coach to participate at more marathon courses and dedicate more time to this activity.
