I was considering joining the project, but then I saw what seemed to be veiled threats about redistributing or changing the code in the mailing list archives. Much of the code I saw had no license. I wouldn't touch the Netrek code with a ten-foot pole. Then there is the culture of the people involved. I get the feeling the Bronco guys think the game is perfect. The biggest proponent for change, one Rado S, seems to have nothing to contribute but whining. I just didn't get a good vibe from reading the archives. That said, it is hard for most open source projects to gain contributors as well. And besides, Netrek is a bit dated. So I work on my own Trek game (http://outguard.sf.net). -Karl
