I did

modprobe snd-pcm-oss
modprobe snd-mixer-oss
sudo echo "quake3 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

No complaints. I type

quake3


No sound. Quake 3 reports:

gives:


 0 [UA1EX          ]: USB-Audio - UA-1EX

 1 [UM1            ]: USB-Audio - UM-1
                      EDIROL UM-1 at usb-0000:00:02.0-3, full speed

The one labeled 0 is the sound card, 1 is my other usb device: a midi interface.


How do I make Quake 3 understand to find the kernel oss?
