Final Destination 2 (2003) Teen Thrillers are normally boring, guessable and repetitive. Final Destination 2 however, is packed with surprises, red herrings and interesting deaths. The story line is almost exactly the same as Final Destination just replace a blowing up plane with huge car crash, the only major differences in the 2 films are the deaths and the characters. It's one year on from the Flight 180 disaster and Clear Rivers (Larter) is the only lasting survivor of the original group. Now safely locked away in a padded cell for her own protection, she is visited by Kimberley Corman (Cook) who has experienced a gory premonition of her own death in a road pile up. She realises she has “foiled” Death's plans she gathers those she has 'saved' from disaster by avoiding the pile up, they together try to stay alive, but of course they don't! The title sequence in Final Destination 2 is very clever, it gives subtle hints on what is going to happen during the film and how each character dies, for example; a Papier-mâché doll with rippled skin looks like burned, melted skin, a sharp object under magnifying glass pointing to a characters eye, a doll hanging from the ceiling, a plane (reference to Final Destination?). There are also many more of these comical hints scattered throughout the short 90 minute duration of the film. The murderers in Teen Thrillers are normally masked, knife wielding maniacs, the name of the murderer in this film is of course Death, he stalks the victims and then take their lives in the most original, random, comical of fashions, such as Death by Pigeon and ironicly Death by Fire-Escape Ladder There is one truly smashing scene where Tim (Kirk), chases a flock of pigeons (not something a 15 year old boy should be doing) they fly away towards the crane operator who is lifting a glass panel, this is where Death comes and takes another life. Final Destination 2 is a Teen Thriller worth watching, it is packed with comedy, gory deaths, suspense, unlike other films of this genre (Scream, Jeepers Creepers, etc...) which are boring and pointless. However, this should have been the last in the of the series as Final Destination 3 was over-done and quite frankly boring and gave Final Destination 1 and 2 a bad name.
