Senate Comittees

Agriculture, Nature, & Forestry – Legislative oversight of all matters relating to agriculture industry, farming programs, forestry, and logging

Appropriations - Standing committee with jurisdiction over all discretionary spending legislation

Armed Services – has oversight of the nation’s military, including the Department of Defense, military research and development, benefits for veterans, and the draft

Banking, Urban Affairs, and Housing – Controls matters related to banks, price control, FDIC, monetary policy, corporate welfare, urban development, and mass transit

Budget -  Responsible for drafting Congress’s annual budget plan and monitoring of the budget for the Federal Government

Commerce, Science, and Transportation -  In charge of all matters related to Coast Guard, Coastal zone management, communications, highway safety, inland waterways, interstate commerce, and fishing

Energy and Natural Resources – In charge of matters related to energy, nuclear waste policy, territorial policy, native Hawaiian matters, public lands

Environmental and Public Works – Deals with all matters related to environment and infrastructure

Finance – It concerns itself with matters relating to bonded debt, collection districts, ports of entry, medicare, Medicaid, social security, and tariffs

Foreign Relations – Funds foreign aid programs, arms sales, trains allied armies, and has rule over diplomatic nominations

Government Affairs – National archives, budget, Census, and accounting measures

Health, Education, and Labor – debates matters concerning health, education, labor and pensions

Indian Affairs – deals with matters related to the American Indian, Native Hawaii, and Alaskan Natives

Judiciary – Conducts hearings prior to the confirmation of judges

Rules and Administration – Makes chamber rules of the senate, is responsible for dealing with contested elections

Small Business – Researches and investigates problems of American small businesses

Veteran’s Affairs – Deals with oversight of veteran issues, such as healthcare and pensions
