Okay man, I'm not sure if i actually understand that So basically when you die, you are a ghost on earth for a few billion years and when the sun engulfs the earth as it's transiting through stellar evolution those who are are righteous will be in "heaven" and others in "hell"? I didn't want to specifically use heaven and hell, what would be the appropriate analogies, if they exist. Sometimes do you ever wonder at the importance of humans as defined by our culture, when in actuality we don't even know the first thing about the universe? A few days ago, I was doing some research on what is called the "rare earth theory" which, in a nutshell, puts forward that although there are billions of stars in billions of galaxies and possibly in infinite universes, the criteria to meet what Earth has been 'blessed' with is incredibly massive. Our solar system actually goes against computer simulations regarding the formation of star systems. The statistical probability of just a few things - creation of jupiter at the certain distance from the sun, leaving rocky materials to clump and form planets closer to the sun, were temperatures are more moderate - having rotation speeds stable enough to allow thermal flux, as well as having a spinning core to create heat flux - having another object hitting it to create a moon to have tides and assist in geological activity - and then this is just most amazing to me, even beyond the orbit of Pluto there exists the Kupiter belt. It's like another asteroid field and it kinda protects us from stuff, just as the asteroid field between us and Mars. Sometimes you have to wonder, when we has mere humans can determine the generational changes in insects in a "short" amount of time, and models show that the universe has existed for an incredibly long period of time, the idea of a direct creator seems less and less likely to me. I have become convinced that we are nothing more special than monkey's for multiple reasons. First, extensive cognitive research shows the brain is usually involved in post processing, most all our reactions are reflex or already decided upon before conscious "doing". Of course it goes against intuition, look at what organ is telling us that... Second, we are organic, the same elements make us up and trees and other animals. We're just meat bags with really good abilities to lie. We share a considerable amount of DNA with bananas, and even on a sub atomic level, very little differentiates us as say, an exploding star. Third, the constraints that human existence as observers imposes on the sort of universe that could be observed. This is the point I was trying to make last time we talked; at UH. You might want to get Ravi involved, I want to get his opinion on this part especially: I was doing some reading regarding dark matter and the idea came up that it was simply optimization on the "universes" side. We cannot see it through ordinary light methods, however we can tell it exists due to it's effects on gravity and other means. Things like that, and many others (mostly related to space), lead me to question the entire aspect of "god" and the extent of his influence. If I could make the distinction, does it exist only "outside" of the universe, or "inside" the universe. If I am contained in a room, which is contained in a house, which on earth, is contained in the universe, which is... contained in... is it? Some professors in Australia went over some data a few days ago and came to the conclusion that our galaxy, the milky way, is twice the size scientists initially thought.
