As you may know, GameSurge is a +o/+v network There is no +a, +q, or +h (well for user status anyway) #maplestory had its origins on GameSurge And thus, so did I Now, at the time, we were led by a guy by the nick of SquiZ His right hand admins, one by the nick rukmedes (who we just called "Steve" because that was his real name), and his soon-to-be-wife, Aria Now they all were +o So keep that in mind I started out as a regular I worked up trust Then became autovoiced Life went on normally Until one day SquiZ, who had been having personal issues Finally erupted He joined the channel Banned EVERY SINGLE OP And left Well, sounds like he was the founder and had a right to do so And also they could just unban themselves Not for personal issues And no, not with the access rights he had set He limited such commands to himself It was near impossible to recover the channel Steve, Aria, and the other ops couldn't get back in The channel could not be controlled Period Well, that could be done with basically any services, so even if they did have +haq they couldn't have done anything about it If you would let me finish I talked with SquiZ later that day, according to him, the channel didn't actually belong to him. He somehow gained access to it, changed things so that it couldn't be anyone elses, and left Took it over, if you will It makes you feel like you're powerless to do anything to prevent it in the first place Point is, I don't want op wars. As for halfops After the entire GameSurge incident If anybody got access to a channel password on any network with any channel modes they could effectively do the same thing We moved to what was then known as Xelium I was given my autovoice back ...until I learned that Xelium had halfops I had believed the fact I had built up enough trust within the admins that I could in fact be entrusted with halfop And after talking with rukmedes, he did so So I basically became the first halfop The fact that, I was extremely limited in what I could do, but at the same time having only the basic functions to help with the channel, I was very pleased BullDog> I also believe halfop, is an excellent thing to have, for those you don't really want to give op but you would want their help with the channel... Or as a "trial" run, even Now I know I could've been more straightforward with that, but, there are certain aspects I wish to keep to myself lolwut
